Diablo 3 - Massive Scale Battle?
I was browsing through Gamespot when I found this news on the main page of the website. I will try to fill you in the details about the game with information I found all over the Internet.
After years of waiting, the fans of Blizzards' greatest RPG of all time can finally rejoice as Blizzard has officially reveals this third installment of the franchise in a Worldwide Invitational event.
This event (opened to the public) was held in Paris, inside the Porte de Versailles Exposition Center. Many fans were eager to get their hands on time with Starcraft II and the World of Warcraft, Wrath Of The Lich King expansion.
Currently Diablo 3 is being developed for PC and Mac only (for now). Targetted to being able to run on a broad set of system, rather than just high-end hardware (though having a high-end hardware does make it a little more enjoyable to play I think)
In the launch, audience are shown the official trailer of the game. After the trailer, Jay Wilson, lead designer of the game got on stage and orchestrated the demo for the audience. In the demo, the audience are presented with two types of character class which is the barbarian and witch doctor (necromancer like character). The witch doctor can summon minions to fight for him.
The interface of the game seems to be the same like its predecessor, red orb for health, blue orb for mana. It looks like the cooperatiive mode is back. There are also "drop in" and "drop out" type of multiplayer play.
For me, when the first time I played the game (Diablo 1) it was the game's intriguing storyline, unique concept, scary levels, the feeling of being a hero when you chopped down all the monsters, alone was what got me hooked. Then after I managed to install Internet Connection at my home, the multiplayer mode in Battle Net deprieved me of my regular sleep and eating habit. It was a wonderful time (at that time) to be able to play through dungeons of monsters with a person you have never met before but still you can work closely together as if you known him since childhood. You can still see people playing the Diablo 1 online until today as Blizzard's has been generous enough to kept the Diablo 1 server alive all this time (its free too).
After that came the second installment, Diablo 2. This great game is the ultimate fulfilllment to its predecessor, lots of characters to choose from, different time of fighting, cool armors, cool swords, cool backgrounds (sometime it rains and you can feel the rain through the sounds). There's also a part where you get to go to the old Tristram. How Nostalgic. I dont remember much about the first and second game as I played it long ago. But I do know this, it made me feel really good inside.
What I hope for Diablo 3 is, for new players to be able to follow the storyline eventhough they have not played the first or second game. That it will be like what Blizzard said, to cater for most of the PC instead of just the High End ones. This title will definitely be in my wish list. I got to start playing the first and second game now, to reminisce some old time (and to hack and slash hordes of demons to release some tense waiting) For more information, please visit the website below:
